We recently attended an excellent informative program put on by the Robert Crown Center on Heroin in the local communities. The event was sponsored by Congressman Dold, School Districts 125, 128, 214, and the Lake County Regional Office of Education.
Some Heroin facts attendees learned about were:
  • More than one third of the research sample began using heroin while they were in high school; those who used in high school were from all socioeconomic groups.
  • There is a substantial lack of knowledge about the relationship between subscription pain pill abuse and heroin use.

There is one more event taking place just like the Vernon Hills one, its being held on November 27th at Waucounda High School from 7-9pm for more infomation contact the Waucounda High School Guidance Department at 847-526-6611 ext 175

If you can’t make it, you can get quite a bit of resource information from the Robert Crown website. There were about 150 concerned citizens at Vernon Hills High School for the presentation.
